Arman Tsarukyan wants top two lightweights next after stopping Beneil Dariush at Fight Night

Last weekend, UFC FIGHT NIGHT shifted away from Las Vegas, Nevada, to the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, which staged the main event between Arman Tsarukyan vs. Beneil Dariush. Both fighters could have advanced in discussions on match for a lightweight championship battle, or any other top one. Tsarukyan, the 27-year-old son of an Armenian father.

Less than a minute into their main event between lightweights, Arman Tsarkian delivered a massive right that knockedout Beneil Dariush.

With a 21-3 professional record and a 9-2 standing inside the octagon, the Armenian’s statistics may not look the most impressive. Certain people believe that last years loss against Mateusz Gamrot would have been anyone’s game and since then other than Islam Makhachev his only lost is this past year.

He stopped within just over a minute which is the shortest win to his career, after the match he said that he is aiming towards the championship position and perhaps meeting again with Makhachev.

“I wanted to be on my form, knock him off his feet and take my belt back home for a title fight,” he confessed. However, I would like to thank you very much, Beneil. For me, he is the best respected fighter of our Division.

“Nobody wanted to fight me. One person, Benili Dariush, wanted to fight. He’s made me the number five fighter in my weight category, and I hope my next fight is for the championship. If not, it doesn't matter. The second one, however, I will fight.“I’m going to win.”

The 27 year old attacked using fierce right hander since he outpeed on him and he landed the first of four heavy punches that sent dariush to the mat as he did not see the remaining shots coming down on him safely.

This is his second successive loss for Darish (who is 34 years old). In the last fight with Charles Olveiro also ended up with a first round submission, so at his age are definitely going to be queries about how far more he can rise.

In the same light, Tsarukyan becomes a bona fide rival to his championship match, but with Dustin Poirer, Michael Chandler, and Justin Gaethje dominating the division and striving for championships themselves, it is not an easy space to fight for

In its turn, Dariush, 34 years old, suffers his second consecutive defeat despite he has won eight times straight. In May, he was just one win short of snatching a possible title shot in June; however, he lost via first round knockout (TK0) against former champion Oliviera.
